Growing tips
Conditions of germination:
depth of sowing: 2-3 cm
optimal temperatures for germination: 5 to 20ºC
time for germination: 7 to 14 days
When to sow:
direct sowing when the soil can be worked in spring or 4 weeks before the last frost and then again at the end of July for a fall harvest
Sowing technique: in line
draw a line in the soil (in a pot or in the ground), then sow the seeds in it
Distance in the garden:
between plants: 3-10 cm
between rows: 45 cm
Height of the plants: 60-75 cm
Soil: rich and well drained
Exposure: full sun or light shade
Days to harvest (from sowing): 55 days
Specificities:
peas can be sown tightly, as they tolerate being crowded;
can be sown in succession, but since peas prefer cooler climates (germination rate decreases with heat), they are usually sown in spring to mid/late May for a summer harvest, then late July/early August for a fall harvest
Can be grown in pots.
