Caraway

Carum Carvi. In the same botanical family as the carrot, the Apiaceae, caraway is the aroma that gives rye bread its unique taste. We consume the root, but also the leaves, flowers and seeds. Its white flower umbels attract pollinating insects. Sow directly in the garden for best results.

Growing tips

Conditions of germination:

depth of sowing: 5 mm

optimal temperatures for germination: 15 to 22ºC

time for germination: 7 to 14 days

 

When to sow:

direct seeding after any risk of frost in spring, or early in fall

 

Sowing technique: in line

Draw a line in the ground (in pot or in the ground), then sow the seeds in it
